On Tuesday the 19th last in beautiful sunshine in Bantry, Carrigboy were victorious in the Sciath na Scol final after a hard fought battle against a talented Drimoleague team. Carrigboy settled very well and had the first score after a beautifully worked interplay which ended with Andrea Stock firing the ball to the back of the net. Drimoleague came into the match quickly however and the result was in doubt right up until the final whistle. Jessica Gingell gave a marvellous performance in goal with some great saves, fantastic anticipation and interceptions. She was given great cover in defence by Jill Somers, Evelyn Burke and Caoimhe Harrington who worked tirelessly throughout. Hayley Gore Grimes played a captain's part in midfield and led with her usual powerful display. Andrea Stock also had a fantastic game ending up as top scorer with 4 goals to her name. Up front Heidi Stock and Becky O'Sullivan again did their terrible twins routine with some marvellous interplay and well taken scores. Saoirse Sammon added a fine long range point at the end to finish off a brilliant team display. Cork Footballer Rhona Ní Bhuachalla presented Hayley and her team the cup which was brought back to Durrus to a great reception at the school. Thanks to all our supporters for all their help throughout the year. Thanks also to Daren Stock and Mr. O'Driscoll for all their help with the training of our teams. Thanks are also extended to Rhona Ní Bhuachalla for doing the presentations , Bantry for providing the venue, Kevin Casey for doing the refereeing and Drimoleague for a wonderful sporting encounter.
